Welcome all! I am very excited about overseeing Cub Resident Camp, and I hope everyone is looking forward to an exciting time at Cub Resident Camp this summer. Let’s face it; the highlight of the Scouting year is summer camp. It is time to learn new skills, make new friends and enjoy the outdoors. Scouts from all over the council will meet at camp looking for a fun filled program for either a few nights or an entire week. Our Staff has been preparing a fantastic summer program that is filled with memories to last a lifetime.

Did you know that if your pack attends a summer camp your Scouts are more likely to stay involved in the Scouting program? Please take time to prepare for your adventure at camp. Remember that it’s not so much the amount of requirements completed as it is to gain knowledge, develop confidence, appreciate our natural environment and ensure its survival. For more information and forms please visit www.sac-bsa.org. I look forward to meeting all of you this summer at camp!

To help make sure you and your Scouts are prepared for camp we have prepared this in-depth guide of everything you need to know for camp. Please take time to read this guide from cover to cover, absorb all of the information in it and pass it along to your other leaders and your Scouts. During the mid-19th century, it became very popular as a place for people to heal various ailments by soaking in the spring's "medicine" waters.
Their results were Sid Barteau (44), David Perdue (44), Tom Routhier (43), Charles Kim (42), and Jerry Sellers (self-proclaimed honorable mention).
In the “shoot the orange” challenge another Troop 212 leader, Doug Gardner won. Congratulations and thanks to all for a great time. We hope to see you today at 3 pm for the golf challenge in front of the Trading Post.
HISTORY OF THE ROCK (Pt. 3)
The Main Hotel was located on the Parking Lot of Camp Rock Enon. Lumber from the old hotel was used to build Buffalo Lodge. Rock Enon Springs had a station along the Winchester and Western Railroad until the 1930s, when the railroad was shortened to Gore.

One of the most famous guests was John Phillip Sousa, the composer of many marches like “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

If you would like to see what Rock Enon Springs Resort might have looked like turn left on Back Creek Road and go to Capon Springs Resort which is still in business today.Scoutsignshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15757273147467863668noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5172993035580144357.post-40106484381387987182010-07-28T11:30:00.001-04:002010-08-19T11:33:58.099-04:00Whispering Rock--28 JUL 2010The Whispering Rock
Pooh's Challenge 1: The Results
Yesterday's competition for the glory of beating Pooh was a bit confusing. Due to the fact that NO LEADERS showed up the game of horseshoes resulted in David Meade, a CIT, and Shawn Kohlhaas, Kitchen Staff, played. Shawn claims victory but David managed one ringer. Luckily, no one was injured. We hope that some Leaders will show up today and show us their archery skills.
Results of Are You Smarter Than a Scout?
Yesterday at approximately 4:30pm a meeting of the minds was held in the Dining Hall in the academic competition of Are You Smarter Than a Scout? The results may shock you, but the winner was Jerry Sellers of Troop 212. His intelligence and knowledge has astounded us all.
Your week of merit badge and fun at Camp Rock Enon begins today shortly after breakfast. Please be prompt to all your classes; if you aren't sure where your class is look at the back of yesterday's newsletter (or ask a Staff member). Also, please bring your blue cards to class. This is to ensure that your counselor can keep accurate records.
When I decided to join Staff in 1996 I never thought it would be such a long term commitment. But I am thrilled to be here and look forward to serving you this week.
As you go throughout this week I want you to look for opportunities to show the Scouting Spirit. If you see a piece of trash “Be Clean” and pick it up and throw it away. If you see someone that looks like they are having a bad day “Be Cheerful” and help them be happy. Do you get the idea? I hope so.
WELCOME TO THE ROCK!
A Note From Pooh:
When I decided to join Staff in 1996 I never thought it would be such a long term commitment. But I am thrilled to be here and look forward to serving you this week.

As you go throughout this week I want you to look for opportunities to show the Scouting Spirit. If you see a piece of trash “Be Clean” and pick it up and throw it away. If you see someone that looks like they are having a bad day “Be Cheerful” and help them be happy. Do you get the idea? I hope so.
